CELLO LESSONS
We are happy to welcome Ben Cashell to our team - a local professional cellist and cello teacher based in Bramhall.
Ben Cashell studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School before being awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music under the guidance of renowned cellist, Hannah Roberts. The Dublin native has an eclectic musical taste and has performed at a number of prestigious venues and festivals, including Wigmore Hall and Glastonbury. He is an avid chamber musician and is a member of the Cashell Piano Trio, alongside his sisters. Among the group's highlights was a performance of the Beethoven Triple Concerto at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. Ben also plays in the Bloomsbury String Quartet who perform throughout the North West. In 2023, Ben released Hot Air, a debut EP made up of his own compositions. The tracks received widespread airplay, including on BBC Radio 3's Night Tracks. He is an experienced teacher who has taught on the internationally renowned In Harmony project, in association with Opera North and The Liverpool Philharmonic. He also taught as part of Yorkshire Young Musicians at Leeds Conservatoire for a number of years and is the current cello teacher at Stockport Grammar and Cheadle Hulme schools. |
Ben says: "I am always looking for new ways to motivate my students.
"I try to combine ABRSM and Trinity exams with learning folk music and pop tunes by ear.
"My teaching style encourages students to pick up the tools to become their own teachers and I am always looking for new ways to make practice become more creative and efficient."
