OUR VIOLIN TEACHERS |
Rosy TJ Williams
Rosy started the violin at the age of 3, learning the Suzuki Method with Christine Boardman of Altrincham Suzuki Group. In her teenage years she devoted her time to leading her county youth orchestras and Hallé Youth Orchestra, as well as further violin lessons with Stephen Wilkie and later, Catherine Yates. She was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music, completing her postgraduate studies in performance with Pavel Fischer. In her performing career Rosy freelances with orchestras such as the Northern Chamber Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, and the Manchester Concert Orchestra. She is also the leader of the Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra and Cheshire Sinfonia. Recent concertos have included several appearances with Amaretti Chamber Orchestra performing the Bach Double violin concerto and the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante, and Vaughn Williams Lark Ascending. Throughout the 00s and 10s, Rosy held teaching positions at Fulshaw St Anne's School in Wilmslow and Hale Prep School. Now with more than 20 years of teaching experience she has taught students aged 3 - 72 and has a glowing record of guiding students through ABRSM exams. Rosy now teaches exclusively from home in Didsbury. Passionate about chamber music, Rosy is very busy with her piano trio, TRAPPINI, with whom she plays jazz and tango arrangements. In recent years Rosy has been instrumental in an exciting folk fusion project GRYBLA with her RNCM teacher Pavel Fischer, composing, arranging and recording new music. Following the recent release of their album Water's End, Grybla went on tour in the Czech Republic late in 2019 performing in jazz clubs and an exciting collaboration with the South Czech Philharmonic. You can hear their music and buy the CD on their website here.
During the COVID-19 Lockdown, Rosy and Dewi performed (#LIVEontheDRIVE) every Friday - for their neighbours and online family & friends. You can see some videos of their informal concerts of folk, jazz and classical music here.
Rosy is a proud recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society's prestigious Enterprise Fund in association with Harriet's Trust.
